We can’t believe it’s February already but the weather definitely reassures us it’s here. Not to mention we just found out we have another six week of winter…Not to worry though! We are still here to help you push through the winter blues and continue your journey for your Wholesome 2015!
For the month of February, we challenge you to find a partner to help keep you motivated and for you to motivate! It’s tough to follow up January’s intensity. After hitting it hard at the gym, keeping a good diet and staying motivated for your New Year’s Resolutions….but don’t let it fizzle! Finding a friend, partner or family member (basically anyone to hold you accountable and vice versa) can make all the difference.
Here are some tips how you and your fitness partner can keep each other accountable:
1.) Group Texts: Yes, this is one of the BEST things we’ve found to help us stay accountable. Checking in throughout the day, motivating each other to hit the gym or to NOT hit that snooze and get to the gym. On our group text we help motivate each other but we’re also there as listeners for when we have a bad day or need a pick me up. Sometimes we’re just there to tell each other it’s okay to have some wine and chocolate cake 😉
2.) Find a time/place that works for your schedules: Everyone is busy these days, we totally get it. But it can work! See what times/places make it easy for both of you to meet up and do the workout. Now, sometimes it may not be your favorite part of the day..but workout partners hold each accountable no matter what. This will help both of you get into a routine. Then, routines become your new normal!
3.) Try new fitness classes/workouts together: It’s always scary to try something new by yourself but having someone with you to try that new workout move or class is always better. Try to sign up for a new class or race together so you can motivate each other to go!
4.) Make a plan to stay on track with meals and workouts: It’s a good practice for you and your workout partner to plan ahead for meals and workouts. For workouts, you need to find times that work, keep track of what you do and figure out a way to plan future/make-up sessions. For meals, it’s great to try new recipes together and event meet/share meals! If you plan together, you can also check in on each other to stay accountable.
5.) KEEP GOING!!!
We believe this is the most important thing to strive for. Remember a few things:
- You’ll never regret a workout that’s getting you to a happier and healthier place
- You’re not the only one you’re letting down if you don’t make it
- You’re going to learn something new
- You’re hanging out with friends!
All in all, it’s simple. If you’re trying to start working out, or to workout more, having someone to help you along the way is a good thing. Partners help you with motivation, accountability and education. Plus, you’re building friendships! Yes, sounds a little corny but we couldn’t imagine where we would be without each other…and it all started with working out! We have completely been there for each other for HUGE events in our lives…marathon races, teacher training, first teaching a class, weddings, the ups..and the downs. We have completely have been there for each other!
Now, we challenge you to find that workout partner and get motivated!
